Despatch Leader (Logistics / Freight) Permanent

We are currently looking for a despatch leader based in Manchester.............

Main Duties:

Manage the shipment of product and spares, including liaising with freight forwarders & office staff and the generation and control of shipping documentation

Maintain department performance to Known Consignor security requirements

Manage despatch operators to achieve business targets and customer commitments

Participate in daily production meetings

Support external collections with key suppliers where required

Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental rules

Coordinate necessary training and audits for Known Consignor/CT-PAT and equipment such as FLT, cranes and packing equipment

Coordinate and lead local 5S activity to promote a safe, defect-free and 'visual' workplace

Coordinate and lead Continuous Improvement activity as required

Undertake the completion of relevant administration tasks, including:

• Maintain good working order of equipment
• Write and maintain area work instructions and risk assessments
• Investigating missed shipments and out of box failures
• Stock counting of shipping materials

Be familiar with the management of tariff codes, commodity codes, preferential position and country of origin

• Experience of building teams and efficient resource management
• Ability to coach and mentor operators - personal effectiveness
• Highly Collaborative
• Excellent Communication skills
• Manages performance capability and conflict

This role also requires an enhanced DBS check so we will need applicants to provide full 5 years employment history and be able to provide information to cover any gaps in employment.
