Enquiries Officer (Standards and Ethics) (12 month FTC)

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly Standards and Ethics Team as an Enquiries Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract.The General Medical Council helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.Each year, the Standards and Ethics Team responds to a large number of written and telephone enquiries from doctors, patients and the wider public, employers and others, the majority of which raise complex questions about standards of ethical practice.The Standards Enquiries Officer will have oversight of the Standards and Ethics Team's enquiry service.Your main responsibilities will include:Managing the day to day working of the serviceMaking improvements to the service, including improving the handling and flow of enquiries, enhancing our quality assurance procedures and sharing team knowledge and expertiseLine managing the Policy Administrator and supporting them with allocation of enquiries.Essential skills and experience:Relevant experience in a customer advice and/or consumer/patient complaints handling service, preferably related to health, social care or legal mattersExperience of case work or correspondence handling, preferably involving the use of published guidance or standards to answer individual enquiriesAbility to write clearly and verbally communicate sometimes complex or sensitive matters whilst using the GMC tone of voice in all correspondenceIf successful, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people.
