Find your future with us.An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as a Lead Simulation Development Engineer based at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.About the roleWe are looking for an experienced simulation lead engineer to join our team to oversee on-site development of simulation capabilities for the RAF’s Gladiator programme. Your responsibilities will be:Technical leadership, direction, day-to-day tasking and mentoring of simulation engineering teamLeading the design, development and delivery of changes to the core simulation system in line with customer driven requirementsSystem administration and support to general maintenance tasks for all equipment used in the provision of DCS&SReporting on technical progress to the Service Delivery Manager and other stakeholders within the businessChampioning best-practice software engineering practices, including continuous integration, delivery and deploymentYou will work as part of a customer-focused engineering team to maintain and develop Boeing’s DCS&S service, integrating with the RAF’s wider Gladiator team at RAF Waddington and across Defence.You will be integrated into a faced-paced and dynamic customer focused environment and stretched to achieve your potential.Your wellbeing is also important to us and we strive to find a healthy life balance and with an ethical team culture and strong emphasis on openness, collaboration, innovation, safety and first time quality.The personTo be successful, you will have excellent domain knowledge and experience of contemporary technologies, systems engineering principals and simulation architectures and methodologies. You will be a passionate and collaborative engineer eager to work in an agile and diverse engineering capability with a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific field, as well as:Essential experience in:Leading engineering teams in a hands-on technical leadership capacityApplication of systems engineering practices and principlesDeveloping software systems using a structured language such as C++ / C# / Java  (3+ years)Using development tool suites and Integrated Development Environments such as Visual Studio or the Atlassian Suite of ToolsScripting languages such as Lua / PowerShell / PythonDesirable:Experience developing air domain simulation systemsExperience integrating simulation systems for a military customerUnderstanding of modern air combat systems and tacticsExperience in developing and applying continuous improvement to process and productivityMaintenance of the Simulation system and supporting Gladiator training exercises at RAF Waddington and across distributed training sitesGathering requirements for system changes, estimating software tasks and implementing changes into the system.Development of new simulation content including behaviour modelling, simulation scripting, terrains and environment modellingMaintenance and update of simulation services such as HLAe infrastructure, Radio comms simulation, After-Action Review systems and the Simulation Software Suite.Supporting Gladiator users creating new military scenarios in the simulation systemAs an engineer working for the Boeing Company, you will ideally be able to demonstrate the following behaviours and values:Mission-orientated approach and familiarity with modern software development paradigms and processesInnovative mindset and ambition with a focus on customers, quality and our peopleA "drive to action" approach with the ability to be resilient and flexible in a fast-paced environmentWorking collaboratively with other engineers, specialists and functional support team-members to achieve a sustainable outcomeIn addition, you will be working on a military airbase and subject to security procedures in accordance with the UK Government’s policies for civilians working in MOD facilitiesNote that this role may require you to work a shift system, including late shift – if required, a shift allowance is providedOtherWillingness and eligbility to undergo SC level clearance is requiredThis position is for a UK National only because of site restrictionsAll information provided will be checked and may be verified.Important information regarding this requisition: This position does not have sponsorship approval.
